Darksun Games Open! (basicly)
{ts '2001-06-06 00:00:00'}
Well, this is it! The new Darksun games site. It's even under darksungames.com! Sweet! Anyways, this site is way easier to update, so I hope it will be more enjoyable for you. It's all done in Cold Fusion, so it's ALL DYNAMIC BABY! Enjoy!
More Games, and W.A.R.B.O.T.s too!
{ts '2001-06-07 00:00:00'}
I put up the rest of my games from the old site, and the game links work now. So that should all be in order. I am going to try to begin a W.A.R.B.O.T.s online comic, so you can check every month or so in the 'sagas' section to see if a new page is up. I'm gonna try to just wing this comic (in terms of not writing the whole thing down first)but it will still be tightly based on the story of the W.A.R.B.O.Ts 2 game I never made. I hope this works out and is fun for me and you.
1st full week
{ts '2001-06-14 00:00:00'}
Well, darksungames.com has been public for a full week, and I'm pretty happy with it. I've been jumbling ideas around in my head and on paper about W.A.R.B.O.T.s. We'll see how it goes. Also, I'd just like to make a disclaimer right now for people since I've been asked so many times in the past. I don't plan on joining any klik co. or doing any work for other people. I just don't have the time, and to be honest, I wouldn't make a very good co. member, cuz I wouldn't contribute much! Guh! Oh well…
Award Wining Action Comic?
{ts '2001-06-21 00:00:00'}
Yes, it's true! Action Comics # 2 (which is now featured in the sagas section) won the 1999 Savannah College of Art and Design Sidewalk Arts Festival! Pretty sad huh?! My Friends and I (Joseph Drust, Brian Bacin & Matt Neill) entered as a group into the festival. We had no idea on what to do, so I threw around the idea of doing Action Comics (as a joke). For some reason they liked the Idea and convinced me to go with it. They even thought we could win! I just thought it would be funny, and I was proven right. As we sat there painting with a mixture of crushed chalk and water, peoples expressions turned from "oh that's cute" to "that..is..the one..with the.. I'm retarded" as they went through the now 12 ft wide stupid comic I had created during boredom in class. Then came the time to announce the winners. As others had spent hours on a Chibi likeness of the episode 1 characters, or creating fabulous worlds with conceptual color theories, we had cranked out a stupid, nonsensical doodle. And we won. I started laughing at the hilarity of it all. But it says volumes about… something. Later, the Episode 1 guys came up to us: "What you guys did is kind of original, but it's still ridiculous that you won." I just shrugged and said: "Yeah." oh yeah, we won $200… :P

HOSPITAL VISIT
{ts '2001-07-09 00:00:00'}
Last Saturday I went to the emergency room of Hartford Hospital because of abdominal pain. So with my painful belly, I sat and waited…. 3 hours. They let me in after letting them know I basically couldn't stand it anymore. So after another 2 hours or so, I found I had appendicitis, and that began my 4 day stay at the hospital. I got my appendix removed and have been resting all week. I'm feeling much better, though not perfect yet, and I will begin doing more of my normal activities again.. No heavy lifting though.
Game Details Pages
{ts '2001-07-11 00:00:00'}
I've begun working on the games details pages, so that every game will have a full description, pics, tips (if any are available) etc…
AOMB2 getting resposes
{ts '2001-07-16 00:00:00'}
The Free Games Factor recently put up a preview for the Adventures of Mark Basehore 2! It's been getting a great response, here are few:"Gawd, I just look at those screenshots and drool. And I downloaded some of the music from the Darksun games website. This game is going to rule so bad! I'd pay money for it." "Man, who cares if it costs money? A brotha needs to make some dinero, doesn't he? And besides, this isn't Microsoft you're giving the money to, it's a fellow Kliker! Everyone, BUY THIS GAME!!!" "In a word...OH DEAR ME...
Okay, three words, but who cares , no amount of words can describe the quality of the GFX, lets hope the games other attributes match these beautiful pics :P" Thanks guys! I've been thinking recently about how the game will be distributed and such. Since I can't sell the game (due to copywritten items in it) the game will be optional with a purchase of AOMB2 merchandise such as tee shirts. I would like to expand the items to include posters, hats, or maybe even comics. I don't know how workable those things are, but I'll do some research. Mark already had several AOMB tee-shirts made, and they look pretty dope! since a secure online-order certificate isn't within my budget, I will most likely have a printable orderform that can be sent with the method of payment (check would be the safest).
Game detail images
{ts '2001-07-18 00:00:00'}
The games in the games section now have details pages with images. I will be adding small tips and tactics, as well as some quotes from peoples reactions to the game… All good of course! "We gotta have airplanes ya'know!"

{ts '2001-08-10 00:00:00'}
Wow.. I really suck at updates huh?
FLATBOOK
{ts '2001-08-14 00:00:00'}
I added my online flatbook to the links section.
BLASTO.NET LEAVES USERS IN THE DARK
{ts '2001-08-22 00:00:00'}
Well, Blasto.net ( the place I get most of my web space) has… well, frozen. The FTP password has been changed and all attempts to contact the webmaster, Jamie Harrington, have been fruitless. As such, I cannot update my AOMB2 page, my portfolio page or change any of the files I keep on blasto.net. This is a big problem, so if anyone can get in contact with him, I suggest you let him know, his users are totally locked from their space because the new password has not been disclosed to us.Any news on the Adventures of Mark Basehore 2 will be posted here in the meantime. Also, the codes for W.A.R.B.O.T.s have been posted in the games section.

AOMB2 UPDATE
{ts '2001-09-06 00:00:00'}
AOMB2 has been going slowly in the past month. Acctually, everything has been going slowly in the past week, cuz I been moving. That's right, Darksun Games has a new headquarters. And it's like 3 min from the old one. Whoopie. Anyways, here are 2 more shots from the game. Enjoy!
I am thinking of putting together a list of features for the game, to give you all an idea of what it's like. It shouldn't be too hard, and I'm almost done unpacking, so if I remember it won't be too long from now.
BLASTO.NET DROPS THE BOMB
{ts '2001-09-07 00:00:00'}
Ok Basicly, all the games, my entire Portfolio site, and any images that were stored at blasto.net just died. Blasto decided to simply Stop hosting everyone with out letting us know so we could back up our files and have time to move somewhere else. So if you see a broken image that won't load, or can't get a game…. Well… it's blasto.
TERRORIST ATTACK ON U.S.
{ts '2001-09-11 00:00:00'}
NEW YORK (AP) - Two planes crashed into the upper floors of both World Trade Center towers minutes apart Tuesday in what the President Bush said was an apparent terrorist attack, blasting fiery, gaping holes in the 110-story buildings. There was no immediate word on deaths or injuries.
Shortly after, an explosion hit another building near the World Trade Center.
Within the hour, an aircraft crashed on a helicopter landing pad near the Pentagon, and the West Wing of the White House was evacuated amid threats of terrorism.
The president ordered a full-scale investigation to ``hunt down the folks who committed this act.''
One of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center had been hijacked after takeoff from Boston, a U.S. official said, citing a transmission from the plane.
All planes were grounded across the country by the Federal Aviation Administration. All bridges and tunnels into Manhattan were closed down.
The twin disaster at the World Trade Center happened shortly before 9 a.m. and then right around 9 a.m. -myaol.com
DARKSUN FILES DOWN
{ts '2001-09-13 00:00:00'}
Several People have been emailing me about the files on this site being down. I just want to reiterate that: The files are down because blasto.net stopped hosting all of it's members without warning. As such all game files, my entire portfolio site, and several graphics are GONE. Several game like AOMB, W.A.R.B.O.T.s, Super Damage House, and WAR 2099 may be found on other sites using a search engine. Especially AOMB and W.A.R.B.O.Ts. I will let you all know when I have the files up here again. Thanks.

NEW ART
{ts '2001-10-01 00:00:00'}
Well, not much new for you, but I got the AOMB2 and 2099 posters back on line in the gallery section. I also made a new AOMB2 wallpaper that you can find in the gallery as well. I'm in the process of uploding my files to WinSite. It takes 2 days or so, but in a short while, all the games will be available again!
GAMES UP?
{ts '2001-10-02 00:00:00'}
Wahoo! I got: W.A.R.B.O.T.s , AOMB, NINJAS, and WAR ex! Up in the games section! Few more days and they will all be up!
HOSPITAL
{ts '2001-10-08 00:00:00'}
This past week a very close family member was diagnosed with cancer. Famliy, friends, and I have been visiting her all this past week. There is currently no cure for this type of cancer, and it is extensive. Please pray for her healing, her chances are not good at all."With men it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God."
WENDY
{ts '2001-10-17 00:00:00'}
At aproximately 3:30 today Wednesday October 17th, my sister in law passed away due to cancer. Wendy is in the arms of her savior, Christ the Lord. She has claimed the hope of glory through faith in the Son of God, and has been perfected seeing Him face to face. Pray for peace for my brother and her family.All praise to Him who is sovereign over creation. Amen.

{ts '2001-10-19 00:00:00'}
On thursday morning October the 18th, my Uncle who had been sick for a long time passed away. Please pray for my Father and his family. Also on wed I had a C.T. scan for chest pain. The doctors found a nodual mass in my left lung, they don't know what it is and we will be schedualing a biopsy soon. Please pray for my health also..
OPERATION & MORE
{ts '2001-10-20 00:00:00'}
Well, I go in for my operation at 11:00 am Thursday morning. woo hoo. Also, "KLIKWARS: DigitalMayhem Round 1" is up at http://net.cellosoft.com/lite/ . I did the drawings for the fights, and the combat was pretty good. Although, they seemed to forget Mark Basehore's lightsaber, fireball, superspy pistol & Rap attack. The TRIUMPH! commander did well, but it's true he can't match Thornleaf. But he should at least whipped out the flamethrower, grenade, Plasma gun & backpack! Oh well! :)
it's not a tumor... - arnold
{ts '2001-10-23 00:00:00'}
Well, the specialist said that a biopsy is unnecessary, and that the mass needs to come out anyway, because it can become obstructive (and obviously painful). The good news is that he says that is a benign tumor. That means it's not urgent, or attacking my body (except for being obstructive). So November 1st I will have an operation to have it removed (oh joy). So thanks be to God, it's not a big problem!
Jose
{ts '2001-10-30 00:00:00'}
My brother Jose had this to say to those who had helped in the recent events:"The past month has been, by far, the hardest time of my life, with
surely more to come as time passes. I have felt the loss of the most
important person in my life and the one whom with I shared the deepest
connection.
In this time of unanswereable questions, God has provided me with
the most amzing support group I could have ever imagined. He stood me up at
my wife's wake and funeral. He gave me the strength to sing to Him and
listen to Him. And He has reminded me that the point of our faith is that
death has been destroyed, and for us it is not the end. Wendy is not gone,
but with Him now face to face. She has not taken a step down, but rather
now is with perfection itself.
I would like to thank everyone who came to the hospital, the wake,
funeral and who has sent messages and stayed with me in the time since. I
have never been in need so badly, yet I also have never had so much support.
I see God's design of His body, the church, now in a very real way. It has
allowed me to reach out and trust God even in the midst of so much pain.
Especially to those who stayed up late with me in Boston, who were
there when Wendy went to be with Him, and who still stay with me until 2 am
just so I won't have to be alone.....thank you.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I
will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right
hand.
-Isaiah 41:10"

BACK!
{ts '2001-11-14 00:00:00'}
I've been back for a little more than a week now, and the light headedness and the nausies are gone. So now I have a 5 1/2 inch scar on my left side and two 1 inch ones under it. Woo! Yeah, well anyways you'll all be happy to know I'm working on a new WAR! Game. It is totally separate from 2099 (it's in the past as a matter of fact) so don't expect a sequal to that. Anyways, when things start to come together I'll post screen shots.Whoa. TRIUMPH! Has 3614 downloads at winsite…. :P

KLIK COMMUNITY?
{ts '2002-01-10 00:00:00'}
Well, the Big 3: Total Click, TFGF, and Daily Click have all been down for about a week. If anyone has any news, or wants to talk about community related stuff durring their down time on the Darksun Games board, feel free.On the other hand, KC War is coming along great! Right now I have 100 troops on screen with no slowdown (compaired to the 60 with slowdown in TRIUMPH!) the warriors block and attack, follow and have better patroling methods. There will be 5 difficulty settings for each army, creating a large set of combinations, so fighting 1 troop on hard can prove to be quite a battle with timing blocking & attacking. And this is just the warriors!
KC WAR PROGRESS
{ts '2002-01-11 00:00:00'}
I've been chugging along on Karr's Castle War and have something to show for it! So for all you WAR! Fans out there, here's some cropped screen shots. The full battle field size is 1024 x 768. This is an in-progress shot, so things like the back drop are not refined, also this is only the wariors and hunters… still have the mages on both sides and the "hunter" class for the Dark King to do. Enjoy!

I LET THE BLUE SMOKE OUT…
{ts '2002-01-23 00:00:00'}
Well… With a loud pop, and a nasty oder release, the power supply in my computer died on Monday night. So until I get it replaced, my computer is dead. Yeay.. Anybody got $50?
COMPUTER'S BACK
{ts '2002-01-24 00:00:00'}
My boss gave me a power supply hanging around the office. So I put it in and my computer is back up and running! Saved about $80 in parts and labor.

LORD OF THE RINGS NAZGUL GAUNTLET-FIRST PICS!
{ts '2002-02-25 00:00:00'}
Well after not working on them for several weeks because of sickness, I finally got the first of 2 Nazgul (ring wraiths) gauntlets (part 1 of my Nazgul costume) to the final stages. All I need to do now is rivet hinges and a strap to the forearm piece, weather it properly (it has some minor ink staining that isn't staying on very well), and attach it to a leather glove.The Gauntlets are constructed of aluminum sheet (from Lowes) cut with tin snips and a dremmel, and some leather and leather rivets (from Tandy leathers). I've got a first set of pics up for you all. Enjoy!
RING WRAITH GAUNTLET FINISHED!
{ts '2002-02-28 00:00:00'}
The first gauntlet is finished! The glove is attached, the hinges and buckle are riveted on, and it's been weathered. I'm 1/3 done with my costume!! Sorta..

BIG NEWS
{ts '2002-03-26 00:00:00'}
OK, let me just get to the stinky part.
Karr's Castle War is DEAD. It's not gonna happen. This is the last
thing I wanted to happen with Darksun Games, since I already killed
W.A.R.B.O.T.s 2 long ago. The most annoying thing in the community is the
abundance of axed games. So what can I say? Nothing, but I felt I at least owed
you guys something, so I made the DS Games Abandonware Set in the Games
section. In there are 7 different Engines, Sprite Libraries and unfinished
games that you can all rip apart and make use of. They are:
2099 Strategy Game
TRIUMPH! WAR 2099 engine
Chibi Doom
DBZ 5 star battle
Gunners Mate
Terminator: Cease Armageddon
W.A.R.B.O.T.s 3
I call your attention to the 3 best ones: Triumph! (because of the demand) Chibi
Doom (huge sprite library), and Terminator (huge sprite library). I hope this
can sorta make up for the lack of a new WAR. (doubt that).
But this story does have good parts!
First, WAR is not at an end entirely. I have a friend who is programming
Open GL for school, and wanted to make a game for his final project. He
already has running, ducking, shooting , jumping & strafing
programmed. So he came to me and asked if I would like to do some models
for a 3D TRIUMPH! game with networking capabilities. I thought this was
just awesome. So we may very well be playing WAR in 3D, over the internet
in a year or so.
And the other thing is the whole reason I stopped
KC WAR.
Since about 1996, when I first got Knp, I've dreamed about making a true, full
featured, tight response, well animated 2D fighting game. I'm finally
gonna do it. Every game I've made since then has been, in some way
preparation for when I would finally make this game. I've put it off continually
waiting for something. I also never wanted to do this because of the
workload, but now I have a close friend who I believe can truly help me on this.
And after studying fighting games, watching the animation over and over,
observing the physics, paying attention to priority, range and still times,
understanding 2 in 1s and deconstructing combo systems, balancing
characteristics and abilities, I think I'm finally ready. I believe it IS
possible to make a commercial quality fighting game in MMF. I think that
AOMB2 (which is still being made) still blows away all other fighters in the community,
but this is gonna rock even that. I am going to take my time with
this. But I wanted you all to know that this and AOMB will be my only real
game making concerns from now until done.
I know people are always offering to help with stuff, and I'll state right now
what I'll be accepting for help: MUSIC. MP3, .mod or .xm orchestral battle
music. Listen to Howard Shore's LOTR sound track to get an idea.
this is the only help I need with my projects. So feel free to submit some
incredible soundtracks! thanks guys!

DAILY CLICK IS BACK!
{ts '2002-05-15 00:00:00'}
Woo Hooo! The Daily click is back! Check out the link in the Links section! It's about time the click community got a hub site back! Let's hope it doesn't die in 2 minutes like all the others!
Daily Click is annoying.
{ts '2002-05-23 00:00:00'}
Ok… this is getting insane. There is no reason that a site should be down in less than a week EVERY TIME is comes back up. Ugh.. WHY?
Daily Fix
{ts '2002-05-24 00:00:00'}
Well… it's working… again. I guess we can count ourselves lucky if it makes it a month. Maybe, at some point, it'll stay up for *gasp* a YEAR!

WHAT NEXT?
{ts '2002-07-10 00:00:00'}
Well, after hearing many requests as to what is going on with Darksun Games, I have been making plans.
First off, I need an AOMB2 update page. So I will begin work on that shortly. I am also planning to spend more time on it now that I have been feeling a bit better. (i've had some unknow lightheadedness and nausia for the past 7 months.. this explains much of my lack of work on games) Although I am still getting medical test done to find out what it is.
Second, I won't be focusing on any of the other big projects (Karrs Castle Fighting Game, 3D WAR!) untill AOMB2 is done or almost done.
Third, I am thinking of making a smaller game so that you guys will have something to chew on, and to give a friend of mine some practice on Sprite making. It is true there hasn't been much game wise here (darksunGAMES) so I will put up lots of updates and some betas for this game once I hash out what I want to do. Hopefully Darksun games will be more active in the months to come!
New Game: Rota Fendente
{ts '2002-07-17 00:00:00'}
 The new game I'm working on is called Rota Fendente. It will be an arcade style game with nonlinear level structure where you can choose what level to go to next.The characters are sword-wielding guys (2 player coop) that can pick up sword power-ups that will give them the Fire Sword, Wind Sword, or Lightning Sword. Each sword will have 8 levels of power and 4 different stages. Also the fighting will be a streets of rage style (no grabs) combat 3/4 view with a combo system where the players will gain experience points and go up levels unlocking new sword combos. Right now I have much of the player character art done and the walking, slashing, jumping, and falling over actions programmed now, and hopefully will continue at this good rate.
Road Block # 1
{ts '2002-07-18 00:00:00'}
Well, I've run into roadblock #1 and don't think it's passable.. Because of MMF limitations, you CANNOT accurately draw sprites on the correct layer according to their y value. So, if a guy walks behind you and another person walks in front of you, you cannot get them to show in the correct order of (virtual) distance from the screen (on a consistant basis. Because of this, I may need to scrap the whole stlye of action and make it a play form game, which would really suck… I'm going to email clickteam about this and see if there is any hope..Not even Shoalin Soccer can save thisone..
But Wait there's more!
{ts '2002-07-18 00:00:00'}
Praise God!!! Woo Hoo! I just went to clickteam and downloaded the beta of the Layer object. I tried it out and it looks like this thing is gonna rock! Right now it's still in beta stage, and it has a pop up, so it won't work for a final game. But It looks like this thing is gonna acctually come out so I'm continuing on the original course! WAHOO!
Darksun Games Store
{ts '2002-07-23 00:00:00'}
Well, completely off the subject, the Darksun Games Store is open. Like it says in the link section, all the over-priced darksun paraphernalia you could ever want. I don't money off most of it, but I get free advertizing!
Mark B
{ts '2002-07-24 00:00:00'}
Well, I'm going to visit Mark B (star of AOMB) so I won't be responding till Sun. Rota Fendente is going great, have a good week/end.
RF Character Graphics Complete
{ts '2002-07-29 00:00:00'}
Well, The Main Character animation is basicly complete. Any thing else that is added to them will be extra or something that I forgot, so whoopee!In the final game you will be able to set your character's colors from several hair, skin, sword, armour, jumpsuit, and scarf/trim color sets.

RF Background Graphics Mock Up.
{ts '2002-08-08 00:00:00'}
 I've been working on some background graphics and have a chunk of the 'city' (tenative name) level done. I put them together for a mock up image to give you an Idea of how the background graphics will look. I'm pretty happy with the style, although it isn't the fastest style, which means if it stays like this, it's more time consuming.Remember, this is a photoshop mock up, not an acctual part of the game. I haven't gotten that far yet..
Backgrounds: Cars
{ts '2002-08-13 00:00:00'}
 Just finished the cars that will be in the background so I figured I'd put 2 of them up for you all to see. Ihave been thinking about the combat system and some control issues (2 or 4 buttons & which control objects to use). Also the issue of combining player attacks together came up at the board, so I will be considering how that might be done.
crap-tacular
{ts '2002-08-20 00:00:00'}
Sorry about the lack of updates. I haven't been working on anything for about a week because my lightheadedness and nausia came back with a vengence last wed. So I guess I really wasn't getting better… My new Dell is still sitting in the middle of my room in it's boxes because I haven't felt well enough to clear out enough room yet to set it up… But I've watched a lot of IRON CHEF!guh… And I was on a roll too. This sux.
AOMB2 DEMO????
{ts '2002-08-27 00:00:00'}
What?!? An AOMB2 demo? I must be crazy.. well, I must be. I thought about it and said what the hey. You guys have been pretty good about it, and I wanted to just say thanks for stickin with me. I'll need a few weeks to get it ready, and this will only be a 3 level demo (there will be 7 in the final version) and won't contain ANY of the frills. NO secret characters, NO secret modes, NO save feature.. etc. But it will contain all the beat-em-up action you excpect from AOMB. So if you liked the first one, get ready for awesome moves, combos, specials, and the craziness that is AOMB2!More details and explanation to come, so stay tuned or whatever.

..What the hew are you doin?!
{ts '2002-09-10 00:00:00'}
Well, this is what I'm doin. I've been tweeking the RF engine, and have added a couple of things like, Runing, Hit freezing (to give a very solid feel to the attacks like any good beat-em-up or fighter) a couple more special FX and messing with some cool BG FX like a fire that can make part of the BG glow with light. Also been doing some animation.Also been trying to get a chance to get AOMB ready for it's demo release. And what's really been cool, is I'm finishing up my Nazgul costume. I made a leather sword harness, cut the pieces for the second gauntlet, and a friend is sewing the robes (very quickly- she's lightning fast). It should be awesome! BWA!

ALMOST THERE!
{ts '2002-10-07 00:00:00'}
Hehehe... it'a almost done. The Adventures of Mark Basehore 2 ALPHA/BETA/GAMMA/DEMO is almost done.. I'd say 2 days and I'll give it to some friends to test out (for glaring problems) then it will be up on line. I'm guessing it will be about 22-25MB. about 10 of that is music :( . If I knew how to make .mods it would be much smaller, but...
ALMOST THERE!
{ts '2002-10-08 00:00:00'}
Tee hee.. it's almost done! Man! I never would have thought that it would be this much more work, just to make what I have presentable/ playable! Oh well, i'm getting a chunk of the intructions out of the way. And I think I'll use this set (with more info) for the final game, they seem to work well.
A bit about the AOMB2- EPISODE 1 DEMO. I realized I hyped this game up quite a bit, and for (i believe) good reason. But I began to notice while I was playing, you are all still missing the best parts of the game. ie: higher level moves, secret characters, all the levels, secrect modes, more bonus rounds, cut scenes, hidden documents and galleries. Which is a good thing! that means even though this will be great, there is still a ton to look forward too. I would say, the demo gives you about 15% of the full experience the game has to offer. Acctually, most people will probably only get 80% of what the game has to offer since a ton of it is locked.
So it's almost done. I'd say tomorrow or tonite I will have it burnned on CD. I want to let a couple of my friends try it before I put it online (to look for big obvious problems), so you might not see it till Monday. But you may also see it as soon as Friday (which I would like to do so you can play it on the week end). We shall see.. tee hee!
TESTING - TESTING - 1 - 2- 11?
{ts '2002-10-09 00:00:00'}
Well, I got the AOMB2 episode 1 DEMO done and burnned onto CD last night. I just finished playing through it, and found 11 things I need too fix! Yup. I guess you can be your own best testor! after fixing those things I'll burn it again and have a friend play it through or I'll just go through it again. then it will be online. Fri I believe. WOOT!
WOW...
{ts '2002-10-09 00:00:00'}
Man! running into more bugs than I could have wanted. Don't think it will be up today/this weekend. I want to get rid of all this garbage so it's very playable. we'll see...
On the good side, the Darksun games board is now hosted by TOTAL KLIK! YEEEEAAYY!! so it looks better, is 10x more user friendly, and idiots can be pointed out with ease and flamed! Yeah, you like that.... idiot.

{ts '2002-10-15 00:00:00'}
Freekin done. As far as I know..AOMB2 episode1 DEMO has been uploaded to winsite in all it's 24.3MB glory. It's still gonna have bugs, I know this. But I couldn't find anything that would crash the game or make it totally unplayable. I did my best and now you can enjoy it! woooo hooo!
It's up in the games section and linked at Total Klik. head over there and give it a review!
AOMB BUGS - and how to report them.
{ts '2002-10-21 00:00:00'}
Well, if you have something you think is a bug, and you want to report it to me make sure the following is true:
-You've read ALL the instructions and info in the game
-It's not a game suggestion. (I won't use new ideas for the game)
-It's not just a complaint. (game is too hard, don't like the controls etc..)
But if you think it's a valid bug, email the details at: liquin_ii@hotmail.com.spamisfood obviously remove the spamisfoodpart to email. The matrix robots want to suck the spam out of us.

sabatons and greaves (shin & ankle armor) when it is done. I will stop at
the plates just below the knee cop (since you can't really work cold aluminum
that way).

There's an Elf in front of you.. WHOOAAAHHH!!
{ts '2003-01-10 00:00:00'}
Well.. It's been a looooong time since I updated. And well.. I've got nothing to show. I've been busy, feeling like crap, doing nothing, or hanging out with my friends these past 3 months. This has been the hardest year and a half of my life with all that has happened, and my games have suffered a lot from it. And it won't be ending anytime soon. I don't know how my game making will continue, but it will. Very slowly.But there have been some cool things this year… One would be going to the Two Towers Exhibit in Toronto. Amazing. By far the most incredible exhibit of ANYTHING I've ever been to. Movie props, sets, and photos galore.. A whole room IN Fangorn Forest, and a whole section of the Dead Marshes are just a taste..Mind blowing. At anyrate, thanks for those who stuck with me through this game drought. I wish I could say there will be more games this year, but I can't promise that. Hope for the best, pray for me, my family and my friends. God willing this year will be better.

GAMES? WHERE ARE THE GAMES?
{ts '2003-03-12 00:00:00'}
Well, this is an interesting time for Darksun Games. I Have officially begun my first Game to be done in C++. I have teamed up with some close friends to make my dream game: Darksun Fighters (tenetive name). I myself will not be programming, but that means I get to spend WAY more time on ART! WOO HOO! My friend who is programming is teaching a Game Design class at the University of Road Island, and is an amazing programmer. The other new DS member is an Engineer at United Technologies. He will be helping with the animation and tapping his art skills to finally reach Super Saiya-Jin. Last, but not least we are gonna have rockin tunes from Recombinant, a fusion of EBM , Synth Pop, Trance, Industrial, Ambient, Noise. So the new DS line up is:Darksun(Me): Director, Art Lead, Animator, Sound Director, Lead Game Designer Schraf: Lead Programmer, Game Designer "K": Animator ,Game Designer Recombinant: Music ,Game Designer Round 1...FIGHT!

Darksun: Battle History
{ts '2003-05-12 00:00:00'}
Well, here is the first tiny look at Darksun: Battle History. This is the standing animation for yours truly. That's right, I'm in the game! I will upload several animated gifs for each character when they are done, and a pic of the next character in line. Things have been going ok, although I've had basicly NO time to work on it the past 2 weeks. But the DS team is still full o' steam, so keep your hats on! And get ready to pw0n!.. Ugh.. That word is so dumb…

Silent Hill Movie Announced
{ts '2003-09-30 00:00:00'}

An increasing number of game franchises have been slated for motion picture treatment, most recently Majesco's BloodRayne. Now it's Konami's turn. Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo's Silent Hill series is headed to Hollywood, it was announced. The movie's production will be in the hands of Davis Films.
Attached to the project is producer Samuel Hadida, whose credits include True Romance, Spider, and Brotherhood of the Wolf, the latter of which was directed by Christophe Gans. Konami confirmed that Gans would be the director. Gans' other credits include H.P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon: Book of the Dead and the Japanese anime Crying Freeman.
Konami will be working closely with Davis Films on the film's script, creature and character design, and soundtrack. Konami did not provide details on the cast, filming location, or schedule and did not indicate whether the film would adapt specific episodes in the series or follow an original storyline set in the Silent Hill universe.
The Silent Hill series has sold more than four million copies worldwide on several platforms. Konami says that it is pursuing film production deals for its other franchises, but it did not detail which series. Other highly visible Konami series include Metal Gear Solid, Contra, and Castlevania.

Doomifiyed
{ts '2004-08-27 00:00:00'}
Well, i've been playing Doom 3 for the past few weeks, and I have to say: It's awesome. It's not innovative, gimmicky, or really pushing any gameplay envelopes.... it's just REALLY WELL DONE. I don't need a hyper detailed storyline, terminator-like AI, super integrated minigames, and a 2000 new weapons and moves to enjoy Doom3. It's scary, and it's fun. I would have to say, I would pretty much put it up there with the first 2 classics. It continues the Doom Legacy perfectly, and it's worth the wait.
In other news, Darksun Games is heading in a new direction. It's been in the making the past 6 months, under cover. I certainly won't give anything away, and I won't answer questions on it, but the winds of change are blowing here, and it's HUGE. News will continue to come slowly for some time (at least 6 months) but Darksun Games will be traveling the road of the Phoenix

Interview with Genuine Software
{ts '2002-04-29 00:00:00'}
New Page 1
Genuine: Hi Tony, thanks for giving us the
time to interview you, and putting us into your schedule!
Tony:
no problem!
Genuine: What are your future plans for
Darksun Games?
Tony: Well, I guess the main thing is that
everything I work on goes very slowly. I only work on things once in a while
now, being out of school and having to actually take care of my apartment and
cook, etc.. slows everything down. So now it's when I get a chance and don't
feel like falling asleep! :)
Genuine: How about games? Do you have any
plans to work on anything new? Or maybe a sequel to a game you have already
made?
Tony: I don't plan on any sequels except
The Adventures of Mark Basehore 2. That will never go away. I started it 3 years
ago, I'm going to finish it. That will be awesome.
Also, a friend and I may be making a 3D version of TRIUMPH! He's programming in
Open GL, so that might happen.
What I'm really hoping works out is a 2D fighting game I'm planning out. AOMB2
is the closest thing I've made to my perfect fighting game dream, but this
should be it. This was the whole reason I bought Knp. To someday make a high
quality 2D fighting game. I think I can do it.
Genuine: Have you ever worked with any
other companies on a game? If not would you ever considered it if someone
approached you with an idea that was going to fly?
Tony: No, I don't think I want to commit
to something like that. The friend who asked me if I wanted to make a 3D TRIUMPH
is someone I've know for years, and went to school with. He is doing all the
coding, I just need to do the art and animation
Genuine: Now be honest, how many games do
you have on your hard drive that are never going to be released/finished?
Tony: about 17. (including the 7 abandon
ware on my site)
Some honorable mentions are:
Super Fighters
Super Fighters: idiots
Super Fighters: Marathon
Crazy Derby
SCAD Fighters
Genuine: Tell me a little bit about your
company! How long have you been around? And some of its history!
Tony: Well, I've been in (or aware of) the
Community since about 1995/96 I kinda played around with Klik n Play for about a
year before I realized how much you could do with it. From that point I began to
go online looking for resources and found Silky's.
My first "finished" game was Super Fighters. A funny, slapstick
fighting game with dopey characters like: Sclarson, B-Boy Cheezy Chunk &
Duce. At this point the only name I had for my "company" was 'Stop and
be Jelly Games'. It's a long story.
After that I started production on W.A.R.B.O.T.s, the game that introduced me to
the community. It got mixed reviews, but may people liked it, and everyone
agreed that it raised the bar on graphics in the community. Darksun finally had
a name. At that point I understood I needed to pay more attention to play
control. And I knew that I better stick with what I knew best: 2D fighting
games. That's when I began to hear about custom platform movements. I knew how
terrible the default control was, so the idea sounded great, and after playing a
few home made engines that people had made, and seeing the amazing quality, I
knew it was time to make a Darksun platform movement. It started with
W.A.R.B.O.T.s 2. I finally had an engine I liked, so I transferred that to a
game I wanted to make for My best friend: Mark Basehore.
The game was meant to be a birthday present, full of inside jokes and crazy
humor that only Mark and a few others would get. That's when The Adventures of
Mark Basehore came out. It wasn't played by a huge amount of people, but
everyone that did play it agreed, it was the best klik fighting engine online.
And I believe it still is.
Somewhere in between all this A friend(the same guy who wants to make the 3D
WAR) and I made a game at 3:00 am one day for fun. It was called: The WAR! To us
it was a crazy fun addictive game that we liked to play. I had no idea that it
would be the basis for my most successful game.
At that time, I had a site and I put the WAR! Up for download. It got ok to poor
reactions, and people didn't seem to think much of it so I began the Adventures
of Mark Basehore 2. I knew it would be a huge project, but I knew it was
something I just had to make. This was to be a little more of a public game,
with lots of features that everyone could enjoy, but also be huge enough to be a
true tribute to my friend for all he had done for me.(sorry it's taking so
freekin long Mark!)
At this time I was finishing up school and I began to make side projects while I
worked on AOMB2. first it was Mark Basehore's Super Damage House, which received
great reviews and then it was TRIUMPH! WAR 2099.
I could have never know that the community would have loved this game as much as
it does. It's the main thing people ask me about and discuss with each other on
my board. I really hope AOMB2 gets the same reaction.
Genuine: Do you look at the click
community as "losing the good clickers and slipping away?"
Tony: Only when we lose good klik hub
sites. Right now, we're doin pretty bad. I can't for the life of me see why
sites like Total Klik, Click Café, and Daily Click should be dying every other
month.
Genuine: I have played a lot of your
games, and I have visited your site many times over the past 2 or 3 years. And I
must say that you are not only good at Klicking, but you are great at HTML, GFX,
and Drawing… not to mention your sprites. Have you always been good at it? Or
like the rest of us did you not really know how, and then just got better? Or
have you been taught from a book?
Tony: I've always been good at art.
Especially computer art. As for HTML, I always use a program like Front Page, or
Ultra Dev. I'm ok at that.
Genuine: Anything you would
like to add, such as future news, or anything else?
Tony: Umm.. Watch Time Bandits. It's
great.

Mark B's Weird Dreams Lodge Stay
{ts '2002-02-02 00:00:00'}
While I have some time, I need to stop and journal this out.
It’s been a frenzied night. I came here on a personal retreat, to get away
from it all. Nestled in the mountains and woods of a distant state this property
of cabins and lakes was the prime choice for my relaxation-vacation. I think the
horror started to accumulate after dinner on Friday. It was a simple environment
hosting a simple dinner. That’s a good way to explain the surroundings here,
simple. White table-cloths are a nice touch but it’s buffet and plastic
salt-n-pepper shakers with bare walls and ruff wood floors that give this place
the rustic peace I’ve been longing for. There’s a mass dinner with most
everyone present and so I met a few people at my table. Mostly younger than me
they were cautiously excited yet hush-hush about something. I took it as the
feelings I used to get while at a foreign place with adequate amounts of unknown
people. We had a good time chatting and eating, although I was slightly
reserved. Later that evening, after enjoying such menial things such as making
my single-bed, stocking my medicine cabinet, putting my clothes up, and reading
a bit of the Gideon Bible, I decided on a crisp walk around the sites. Near the
northwest edge of cabins I was called by name. At this time it was approaching
darkness and so my chemical levels must have jumped. At the opening of a recluse
cabin one of the students from dinner called for my attention. He waved me in
and I obliged. We proceeded to chat about a few meaningless things having to do
with this place of wonder. Then with a desperate look of seriousness on his face
he asked if I would look at something. He told me of an evil person with
likewise plans. By some means his group of friends joined together to fight and
expose this specific force of wickedness found in a secretive group of people
led by this same evil man. It’s all hazy now, as it was then, but I do
remember some of it with clarity. He told me that they came this weekend with
the intent of meeting me and pleaded for my assistance. He showed me some
information about webpages and emails and asked if I knew of anyone that could
possibly be the owner of such items. This is where my mind began to unravel. My
all-time best-friend for life, Tony Lopes, held a few of these accounts but he
wasn’t an evil man with goals to somehow wield destructive power unendlessly,
but that is who these accounts belonged to. Then he handed me the ‘something’
that he wanted me to look at. He asked me if I knew this person. It was a small
scrap of paper with a pencil sketch on it. It was the face of my all-time
best-friend Tony Lopes wearing a few years. He looked the blend of himself, as I
remember him last in earlier years, and of his older brother Frankie. Inside I
freaked out. Outside I was cool. I wasn’t about to tell this person Tony’s
personal information and so I told him I didn’t really know anything. I kept
the secret to myself and decided to call Tony and talk with him about it at a
later date. I left there uneasy and slept in the same condition in which I left.
Saturday started off fine. I woke with a desire to put the night before
behind me. I ate breakfast late to avoid those I met and stayed to myself most
of the day. I enjoyed lovely walks along the brisk trails on the grounds. I
fished and sang as if I were a child again. Yet the horror returned. That
evening while walking through the main building after dinner I met some suspect
characters. All that follows occurred in only the last few hours yet remains to
be the most blurred of my memories. I remember being chased by one particular
person out of the shady group. It was as though he wasn’t chasing me with
desperation but with a smile, knowing that I was prey that would not get away.
The situation was frantic in that building. Lights kept coming on and off and
people were falling to the ground in death. Many were shouting, running, and
hysterical while this tall, elegantly dressed man with a dark skin-tone paced
the hallways. After some time I came to the conclusion that he had something to
do with the blackouts. It was as if he caused them somehow. They were localized
to his vicinity and captured people detaining them for slaughter. I didn’t
understand it and still don’t but I experienced it.
I, too, was in these halls, running. He came around the corner and the lights
went out. It was very dark as despair quickly came creeping. I was stuck and
couldn’t move but a few feet. It was as thought the blackness held me with a
field of force that I could not break. I knew that this was how he killed. He
trapped his victims in this forcible darkness and somehow through a slight
movement of touch, perhaps, took their lives. I knew this as he came towards me
and ducked, quivering with fear. He passed and I was spared. During this time of
sick flurry, we as the mice, running lost, continued to run and I encountered
him again. The blackout occurred again but this time there was no escape. I was
stuck in a small alcove and the darkness kept me there. He came very close,
reaching out, as a light came on behind me breaking the spell. I’m not sure
how but in someway the light destroys that oppression and I was free to move
again. I found myself in a doorway that had just been opened and I followed the
safe-light into this room. Here I am now with those I had met earlier. Under
persecution and labeled for destruction, as one of the group opposing my
all-time best-friend’s plot for destructive power, I now sit in this chamber,
trembling, yet safe somehow, due to the backup generator, waiting for what’s
to happen next. I sit and journal while I still have light.
Mark B's Weird Dreams Another High School Prank
{ts '2002-01-16 00:00:00'}
This one of Mark B's acctual dreams. I like the one that will be coming next more than this one. But this one is good.Here it is, Prom night, and I don’t have a date! No big deal though I’m going with friends. Jontue, Elmer, and I have been friends all through High School. We were juniors now, more mature and mellowed out after puberty. We weren’t the most popular people but we weren’t losers either. We were close with all sorts of people, except the jocks. In fact they had something against us, especially Jontue. I always thought it was a jealousy thing, on their part of course. I’m not sure why but that’s the only way I could explain it. In all actuality it was probably because of a girl or something.
Well here we are, Prom night, and it’s late, late and dark throughout the school. We decided to go exploring instead of staying at the dance. We walked through the dark halls of the school trying elevators we had always thought about. We took stairs we never knew of and had a good time joking around and attempting to scare each other. While walking on the main floor in the hallway we approached the front entrance of the school as a flashlight’s glow at the opposite end of the hallway shined in our direction. There was some talking from that group but after a second of indecision I broke for the edge of the row of lockers heading towards the front door and stuck myself against the wall hoping the lockers would hide me. Jontue followed quickly. Elmer wasn’t so sure about hiding. He just kind of stood there with a blank look on his face, waiting. He waited until they were turning the corner to decide to hide and snuck by us as the light show on his clothes. Our cover was compromised.
They were jocks, apparently searching for us through the same dark hallways. They had found us and rushed us immediately. We broke for the two sets of double doors leading outside. The only way to go without facing the football team. We ran right off of the walkway to the parking lot into the grass by the side of the school. We scattered a bit. While I was turning around a pine tree I slipped and fell landing at its base slightly covered by its low branches of needles. Some jocks had seen my fall but were concentrating on Jontue and Elmer. The head of the team of force turned the situation serious by yelling that he wanted Jontue, “Be sure to grab Jontue I have something nice for him tonight!” I knew what was going on. The jocks had planned some sort of devious prank for us. A way of saying goodbye and we won!
They finally grabbed Jontue and Elmer while I lay beneath the tree. Jontue and Elmer struggled but in the arms of a human bear there was no release. They started to search for me. One pointed them to my location and another was on the ground reaching out about a foot below my feet. Another came right next to me so I got up and sprinted towards the parking lot. While running I looked back to eye up my aggressor. He was close behind me but I waited until he was closer before I did what I had thought of. While he drew really close I put all my weight into stopping then throwing myself into his thighs, knocking him down to the parking lot asphalt. I scrambled to my feet and regaining composure I stomped on his manhood to buy myself time. During all of the running and even now I was screaming, “HELP! HELP!”, at the top of my lungs. My throat hurt.
I noticed a school bus pull around the corner and head towards us. I hoped for this to be our salvation but the jocks stood strong and it seemed as though they were lined up at the curb, waiting. As I glanced back towards the bus I realized its driver was a jock! “HELP! HELP!” The bus pulled up in front of the group and as they were forcing their prisoners onto the bus the Prom court walked out through the front doors in a procession. It was as though they made a grand exit from the dance to be recognized but came out into nothing, except a small war-zone to their right. The court stood in place as though they had not received orders to do otherwise. I ran to them and noticed that a girl who had been outside during all this was at them yelling for their help. I joined in this attempt to solicit help from the court. They just stood there with a blank glare about them. Some slowly turning in circles but sticking to their place in line. It was almost to say I’m trapped by my status. The bystander was frantically yelling, “Jontue is your friend!”, to one of the girls on the court while I thought about running for help. I decided against it for fear that the bus would leave without me knowing and I would loose track of my friends. At this point the jock’s prank was sure to increase in severity and danger because of our slightly successful resistance. I wanted to keep my friends in my sight at all times.
I ran around the parking lot looking through windows for some kind of edge; something to get me ahead in this struggle. I knew what I wanted; a gun. Sure enough on the back ledge of a beat up high schooler’s car who, I’m sure, lived out in the boonies, there was a rifle. I broke the window and retrieved it and made sure it was loaded. A .44 caliber with 5 shots counting the one in the chamber. I ran back to the bus armed. Approaching the door I yelled inside for the release of Jontue and Elmer. A jock started to step off the bus but I fired into the air and cocked to show my steadfastness. He retreated back onto the bus cursing. Jontue and Elmer were released and I told them to get someone. They took off running.
Time passed slowly and the faces of the jocks grew furious with anger and resentment. Suddenly sharp pains ran through my body and a thumping accompanied by a ringing spread through my head. I was on the ground. During what must have been seconds I figured out that the jock I knocked down must had gotten back up, snuck up on me and struck me with something hard on my head. Another shooting pain occurred to the right of my stomach. A warm feeling spread like waves while there was a tremendous amount of pressure in that location. I had been shot. I lie dying, fading out but feeling fine. It wasn’t that bad. Actually I felt like a hero of some sorts; a hero who became a martyr. And I was resting in peace.
AI Tutorial - Creating association between objects
{ts '2002-01-03 00:00:00'}
OK! so you have this problem: You have 1 million A-troops and a million B-troops, and you want to make it so A-troop # 3673 attacks B-troop # 987962! well, I got the deal for ya right here. Well... let's simplify shall we?
 So you have 3 A-troops(green), and 3 B-troops(red). And you want 1 of the A-troops to pick any of the B-troops and follow it around. But you want it to be at least a little realistic.. you don't want to be followed by some guy who is on the other side of the rock you're hiding behind.. He can't even see you! So here's what happens.. see the little yellow guy.. he's our "sight Object". So we do this:
Every .10 sec: set alt val A of (A-troop) to random(50)
then,
Pick a (B-troop) at random
Flag 1 of (A-troop) is off
When alt val A of (A-troop) = 1: Shoot (sight object) at (B-troop)
Set Alt val A of (sight object) to Fixed val of (A-troop)
then,
when (sight object) collides with (B-troop): destroy (sight object)
when (sight object) collides with backdrop: destroy (sight object)
Now we've set it so that the A-troops will randomly shoot out small objects to test if a target is in their line of sight. No association can be made with an object that is hiding behind a backdrop object.
Now let's make A-troop obj follow the guys he can see:
Alt val A of (sight object)= Fixed val of (A-troop)
when (sight object) collides with (B-troop): Set Alt val B of (A-troop) to Fixed val of (B-troop) and Set flag 1 of (A-troop) on.
Then:
Pick one (B-troop)
If alt B of (A-troop) = Fixed val of (B-troop): (using the direction calculator) rotate (A-troop) towards (B-troop).
There you go! then you can turn Flag 1 of A-troop off and set the alt val B to 0 and let it roam free again!

The Adventures of Mark Basehore have been around for a while now, and since Darksun Games (me) is working on a new one, I thought I'd just address something about the first that so many have commented on. How to beat the level 1 boss; Vader.
Contrary to popular belief, this actually easy to do, and I've never understood why people had such problems with it. Since most people seem to have the "hit whatever moves, all the time" strategy, I'd like to share a new way.
Just stay on the left side of the screen till the head is over you (keep pressing left, the head won't come down, it'll just go back and forth over you) Then Jump over to Vader as fast as you can (Don't jump into the head!) Then get behind him and Pull a hard kick as many times as you can before the head gets there. (About three times) If you have the light saber, just whip that badboy out and deck him in the back as fast as you can. (About 7-10 times) And repeat. The whole time you have to try to avoid the paper as best you can.. If it's flying at you and the head is a good distance away, you can try to knock them back at Vader. Hard punch works best if its not too low.
See? Simple. So next time you run out into the woods, hearing grunting noises and someone telling you to use the force, now you'll truly know how.

proof all hemp activists aren’t trying to get high
{ts '2001-06-07 00:00:00'}
Q. Is hemp the same as marijuana?
A. No. Both hemp and marijuana come from the Cannabis Sativa plant. However, they are completely different with respect to stalk size, growing practices and most importantly, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content. THC, which comes from the flowering tops, is the active ingredient in marijuana and contributes to marijuana’s medicinal value as well as its mood altering effects. The hemp plant, on the other hand, is harvested solely for its seed and stalk, not its low-THC flowers. THC values in marijuana run about 15-20%, while THC values in industrial hemp are usually standardized at 0.3%. - http://www.abouthemp.com
i got a friend that is pro-hemp, well a couple actually. one of them doesn’t smoke weed so that makes me think about the issue with actual concern. after checking some things out on the internet i think i’m pro-hemp. yah, i think i can say that now. from what seems legit, industrial hemp does not contain high enough levels of THC to effect a person. apparently industrial hemp has an incredible amount of uses. "Over 25,000 products can be manufactured from hemp, from cellophane to dynamite." -Popular Mechanics, 1938
the federal government has passed legislation that prohibits any form of the cannibus plant which includes industrial hemp and the marijuana plants we always hear about. what’s weird to me is that the government hasn’t revoked that legislation. the only reasons i can figure is that it would be hard for cops to tell illegal hemp from legal hemp and because uninformed people would freak out! the more i think about politics i think about it’s all-encompassing priority which is to please the people. majority rules but often the majority isn’t qualified to rule... anyways go hemp.
i found http://www.abouthemp.com a great resource site complete with uses of hemp and FAQs. so you may be wondering where the proof is? well i’m a hemp activist and i don’t want to get high. peace. Mark Basehore aka markdigdog
