TRIUMPH! WAR 2099
{ts '2001-06-01 00:00:00'} / 6.89 MB
TRIUMPH! is a addictive action shooter of army-sized proportions. Considering that you have an entire army! You play as 1 of 4 (up to 4 players) Commanders who's mission is to retrieve the Plasma Cannon Energy Crystal from the clutches of an infestation of alien bugs! Commanding your troops and blasting your own way through 9 levels of mayhem, you progress on your way to the crystal, gathering power-ups and reinforcements. But remember, your survival is linked to that of your troops, so command them well!
NOTE: this game is system resource hungry! Not for the weak cpu. I recommend a P400 or higher, with 180 MB ram or more. TIPS & TACTICS Secrets Level Select at the title sceen type: 'AOMB2' you'll hear Mark say "oh yeah.." and the numbers 1-9 will appear on the bottom of the screen. click a number to go to that level. you will start with 0 credits. Johnny Blazin at the title screen press: up, up, dwn, dwn, left, right, left, right, 1, 2 on the P1 controls. You will hear a commander say "johnny blazin!" all commanders will have every weapon at once, move faster, have the backpack, and full grenades every time they start. Here is my personal favorite review of TRIUMPH!: One night (sometime in March I think) 3 friends sit around a computer doing nothing, untail one of them decides to download a Klik game, any old shoot 'em up will do for good multiplayer bashing, he says. The others are hesitant and a little afraid but the friend assures them of these great games. While searching the net they find an ingenious little game entitle Triumph War 2099 (for one to 4 players) the friends decide this could be fun, so they download it. Little do they know that they are about to embark on a journey, that will whisk them to another place, another mindset and altogether, an invigorating expeirence.
As the friends begin Triumph they begin notice the epic scale on which this game was built on. They are each nothing more then a commando in a 50 man army, against close to 50 aliens, but everything they do is crucial, one missed power up, one missed reinforcement and all is lost. They also begin to notice that beyond the shoot 'em up game they thought they downloaded, is a deep strategy shooter, that shines in the gameplay department (Gameplay 15/15)
The friends finish the first few levels, and are satisfied with
how things are going, they are having fun killing some aliens (they're not even sure why) and taking over some enemy bases, when it begins to dawn on one of them, couldn't this game be that much more epic if it had a better storyline? maybe some opening movies before levels getting you pumped to beat it and giving some meaning to the constant killing's of aliens and your comrades? But this is all in dismay because all he gets at the beggining of each level is long line of text, that the friends don't even bother to read. (Storyline 6/10)
As the friends start to get back from being down about the lacking in storyline, they begin to focus on the other facets of the game, namely the graphics. One friend notes that the resolution is very tight making pixeled people a thing of the past, another one notices the constantly changing levels some with cool inder stuff others outdoor, and some near mountains etc. (Graphics 13/15)
This is getting bad, the friends are getting more and more enticed in this game, the game is getting more and more addicting, one of them hasn't urinated in 7 hours (well maybe just 3) the end is nearing, and the atmosphere is thick with great sound effects and awesome techno flavored music in the back, at one point in time one of the friends even starts to rap to the music, which is abrutly stopped though by the others. (Sound 8/10)
Then the game ends. Climactly. The friends wonder how a quick shoot 'em up game has evovled into a marathon strategy quest adventure. The friends agree that one of them (hebobbit) should write a review to show everyone how great a game this actually was. 42/50 = 84%
